This is too short to serve as an opinions article, but it’s worth saying: There’s a developer who plans on building a rather large condominium complex in Downtown LA. Housing downtown is always welcome, but there’s a twist to this project. The developer plans to bathe the tower in an animated advertisement. He says his inspiration came from similar ads in the film Blade Runner which is set in a futuristic Los Angeles. What this small-minded individual forgets is that the ads were a bad thing, they aren’t something we want to emulate. Can’t he recognize a dystopia when he sees one? Next thing we know we’ll be taking soma pills and firefighters will be burning books.
