Oxy is great, but it needs a lot of things: rentable umbrellas, efficient registration procedures, a bro corral, squirrel euthanasia programs, and more heritage clubs. But most of all, it needs more ResLife (excuse me, ResEd) parking spaces in the Rangeview lot. I only mention this because ResEd holds a special place in my heart. They’ve had my back since room draw last year, with their constant Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook, Myspace, and campus-wide email updates. They’ve been like a third mother to me, guiding me through the first two years of my Oxy career. This year, they continued the tradition, helping me understand the economic benefit of forcing triples.

Taking all of this into consideration (the bro corral especially), I find it necessary to stand up and say that there is one thing Oxy does not need: more ResEd bashing! I myself was forced into a tringle and find it hard to understand where the problems are being found. My bathtub and shower are in excellent condition, my air conditioning ever-present and potent, and the kitchenette is sizable enough. The view from all of my roommates’ windows is quite nice as well. Could Braun really be that bad? Stewie that dirty? I feel like people are overreacting. I’m sure the Stewie, Newcomb, and Chilcott rooms have these basic amenities, including a MacroFridge (so kindly forced upon us by our ResEd staff). Why would anyone whine after such royal treatment? Surely, any prestigious college’s residence life (or ResEd, depending on which prestigious college you attend) does not provide such wonderful services to their students. I, for one, could never imagine a life without the forced triple where I live. Please, Oxy, tonight when you cuddle up in your air conditioned forced triple, whether it be in Braun, Pauley, or in Rangeview (like me), be thankful. ResLifeEdLife has got your back.
