I’m sorry, but I’m so sick of these letters pinning Kenna for her actions at the One Love Dance and her “abuse” of power. As a school official and a prominent organizer of events on campus, I’m not sure how Kenna’s actions demonstrate her to be nothing more than what she is: an Occidental staff member with all the rights attributed to that position. You have to bring your ID to dances and the student mentioned clearly didn’t. Letting the student in without an ID opens the door for future students and their guests to show up without IDs and the problem would continue . . . It doesn’t have anything to do with “power.”

Let us also keep in mind that most of the staff members in the OSL left last year as well as most of ResLife. With their leavings, Kenna remains as one of the only staff members who has been here for a year or longer. I’m pretty sure Kenna had a ton to pick up for considering the timing and weight of those absences in the two departments. And unless you all want to make it one more absence in the Office of Student Life, I would stop brutalizing the issue of Kenna’s apparent “power abuse.”

So kudos, Kenna. I’m sorry some students at Oxy clearly don’t know how to appreciate the work you do for us.
