After spending last semester watching Congress in Washington, D.C., I was excited to return to Occidental and watch my own student government in action. Last week, I heard that several important funding decisions were before the ASOC Senate and I attempted to attend the rhetorically open and accessible meetings. However, [neither] the OSL, posters nor the ASOC website listed meeting times or locations. I was disappointed that the Senate elected to “be the voice of the student body” had placed such little emphasis on student outreach and consensus building.

To their credit, after discussing the issue with ASOC’s full-time staff advisor, meeting times for the spring term have been prominently added to the Senate webpage. Better late then never, better never late. Keep up the good work, ASOC!
