Dear Editor

This letter is in regards to “Chad and Caroline Do Melrose.” I think they mischaracterized the public transportation option, saying that you could “count on two hours each way” and would need to take two buses. WRONG.

I would like to offer a much easier, cheaper, faster, environmentally friendly way to get to Melrose by public transportation:

Take the Metro Rapid 780 from Colorado/Eagle Rock Blvd to Fairfax/Melrose.

We’re talking 1 bus, 35 minutes (because it’s a rapid bus), and $1.25 each way. If you take a car (which contributes to pollution, gas usage and general laziness), you could end up sitting in horrible traffic on the 101 freeway (which they don’t mention in their article), and pay over $12 in gas money (according to AAA’s formula). Plus, you have the added benefit of not having to park (which is actually difficult during the times Melrose is busy).

Take it from an L.A. native who takes the bus regularly and very much enjoys Melrose: forget about driving and take the bus.
