Dear Editor,

There are several mistakes in the story “Celebrating the High Holidays with Hillel.” “Sedakah” is actually spelled “Tzedakah.” “Teshuva” does not mean the days of Awe. Yamim Nora’im means “Days of Awe” and Aseret Y’mei Teshuva means the “Ten Days of Repentence.” Also, the class is called “Judaism as a Religious Civilization,” not “Judaism as an Ancient Civilization.”

The next time an article is written about a culture or religion, the writer should consult with someone knowledgeable about the customs and terminology. They should also double-check their facts to avoid these kinds of mistakes.
