England. A cat recently survived a 260-mile journey across southern England — from Cornwall to West Sussex — via mail, after falling asleep in a box of DVDs and that was put in the post. The cat, named Cupcake, was discovered after the eight-day trip. Although suffering extreme dehydration, she was still alive. The package’s recipient called the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and Cupcake was taken to a veterinary clinic. Following the activation of the cat’s microchip at the clinic, she was reunited with her owner, who had been searching her neighborhood for her furry friend.

St. Helena. A 184-year-old giant tortoise living on the small island in the South Atlantic received the first bath of his life last week. Jonathan the tortoise was a gift to the governor of St. Helena from the governor of Seychelles at the end of the 19th century. A caretaker chose to bathe the giant tortoise — currently believed to be the oldest living land animal on Earth — in order to better showcase the creature’s shell to tourists, as Jonathan is one of the island’s major attractions.
