Two weeks ago I was walking around campus when I saw some pro-Israel and anti-Israel posters. This saddened and upset me in multiple ways, but mostly just reminded me about how little people know about Israel aside from politics. When people think of Israel they think turmoil, disputes, and conflict. But Israel should not only be associated with politics. Too often people overlook the contributions of the country.

Israel is not just a land of soldiers and army, but filled with entrepreneur nerds that developed some of the greatest technological and scientific advancements of our time. The first cell phone was developed by Motorola Israel, AIM technology was developed by four young Israelis, Israel developed the first computerized no-radiation diagnostic instrument for breast cancer, Israel developed a video camera so tiny that it can fit inside a pill that can be used to help doctors diagnose cancers and different disorders, Israel has the largest number of solar power water heaters per capita and Israel was the only country to enter the 21st century with a net gain in the number of trees. So next time when thinking about Israel keep in mind that it is not only a place on a map that causes heated debates and produces strong feelings, but it is so much more than that.
