Claremont-Mudd-Scripps executed a miraculous comeback late in the fourth quarter Saturday, narrowly edging the Tigers (3-3 overall, 2-2 SCIAC) 45-42. However, wide-receiver Devin Bullock (senior) was impressive in defeat, with 11 catches for 188 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Tigers.

“As a leader on the offense I knew that I was going to have to have to do my part and make some plays to keep us in the game,” Bullock said via email. “My quarterback, Bryan Scott, and I trained together all summer working on our timing. This game was just the payoff from all the work we did over the summer. It was definitely a bittersweet feeling at the end of the game when I knew I had given everything I had for my teammates and I to win, and we just came up a little short. I know we’re going to bounce back from this tough loss, we are a very resilient group of men.”

Michaela Tsuha

AOWMichaela Tsuha (senior) tallied the winning goal Wednesday, sealing Occidental women’s soccer team’s (6-7-2 overall; 5-5-2 SCIAC) victory over Pomona-Pitzer. Tsuha additionally fired off the only two shots on goal during the Tigers 0-2 loss at CMS on Saturday.

“[Saturday] was a disappointing loss, but we still have at least two more games to finish off the season strong,” Tsuha said. “We have so much talent on the team, and I’m glad our results in the second round were able to reflect that. These next two games are going to be crucial, but I know that if we play our game and have the right mentality, we can come out with the two wins that we need.”
